Johnny Depp provided financial relief to Eric Dane in the months before the actor's death, allowing him to live in one of his properties for minimal rent. Dane, best known for his roles in 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Euphoria', passed away on Thursday at age 53 after a battle with ALS.
A source told the New York Post's Page Six column that Depp offered Dane a home above the Sunset Strip, telling him to pay whatever he could or could not afford. The gesture aimed to ease the financial burden on Dane, who had been diagnosed with ALS in April 2025.
Dane's family announced his death on Thursday, stating he was surrounded by his wife Rebecca Gayheart, their daughters Billie and Georgia, and close friends. They described him as a passionate advocate for ALS awareness and research.
In his final public appearance, a virtual panel for I AM ALS in December 2025, Dane described living with the disease as 'so horrible'. He had lost use of his right arm and hand by June 2025.
