Eurovision Star Delta Goodrem Reportedly Signs for Strictly Come Dancing 2026
Strictly Come Dancing bosses are pressing ahead with securing the 2026 line-up, and Australian singer Delta Goodrem is rumoured to be among the first stars to have signed up. The 41-year-old vocalist, who is set to represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest next month, has been on the producers' wishlist for years, according to insider reports.
A Long-Awaited Deal
A source told the Daily Mail that securing Goodrem for the show is "all but a done deal". The insider explained, "They've been trying to get her for years. Obviously, she is a good name for the show." The Independent has contacted representatives for Delta Goodrem and the BBC for comment on these rumours.
Delta Goodrem first rose to fame in the early 2000s, signing her initial record contract and achieving a string of hits in her native Australia. Her debut album, Innocent Eyes, reached number two on the UK charts, propelling her to international recognition. Over her career, she has sold more than nine million albums, topping the charts in eight countries, and also starred as Nina Tucker in the long-running soap opera Neighbours.
Eurovision and Strictly Commitments
Goodrem has already had a busy start to 2026, having been confirmed to represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. Australia has participated in the competition since 2015, and Goodrem will perform her new song "Eclipse" at the event. She expressed her honour at representing her country, stating, "As a singer-songwriter, music has been my lifelong passion. I've always loved the creativity, individuality, and joy Eurovision brings, connecting and uniting people across the globe through music; the universal language. I can't wait to arrive in Vienna and make Australia proud."
Major Shake-Up Behind the Scenes
The reported signing comes amid a significant restructuring of Strictly Come Dancing. Recently, the show announced the departures of four long-serving professional dancers: Karen Hauer, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova, and Michelle Tsiakkas. In her first interview following her exit, Tsiakkas revealed she was told the news "out of the blue" over a Zoom call. She said, "It felt like my world was falling apart, my dream was shattered. I gave my everything to the show for the four years – it was my whole life." Tsiakkas was paired with a celebrity partner only once during her tenure, notably with EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick in 2024.
Host Replacements Still Pending
Additionally, Strictly bosses have yet to announce replacements for hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who bowed out at the end of the previous series after more than two decades with the show. A number of high-profile names have been linked to the presenting roles. Alison Hammond recently disclosed that she turned down one of the jobs, telling Radio Times, "I'm so busy, babes, that I'm not sure it's going to happen. It's unrealistic. I'm so happy they considered me but, like Traitors, I can't do it because everything clashes."
Other stars rumoured to be in contention for the hosting positions include Hammond's former This Morning colleague Holly Willoughby and ex-It Takes Two host Zoe Ball. As the show undergoes these substantial changes, the potential addition of Delta Goodrem to the celebrity roster marks an exciting development for fans anticipating the 2026 season.
