Delta Goodrem 'Always Open' to Strictly Come Dancing Amid Rumours

Delta Goodrem has addressed speculation that she will join the next series of Strictly Come Dancing, admitting she is 'always open' to the idea. The Australian pop star, 41, recently represented her home country at the Eurovision Song Contest with the track Eclipse, which finished fourth with 287 points.

Speaking on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, Goodrem said: 'Every time I've ever been in the UK and I get immersed into it. I love music with all my heart but as I said before Eurovision, I'm always open.' However, she acknowledged that taking part would require hard work, adding: 'I'd have to work really hard because I'm a piano girl at the end of the day.'

Goodrem rose to fame playing aspiring singer Nina Tucker on Neighbours before launching a successful music career with hits such as Innocent Eyes and Born To Try. She joins a long line of stars who began on the Australian soap before conquering the music industry, including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Holly Valance and Natalie Imbruglia.

Last month, insiders claimed the star was close to signing up. A source told the Daily Mail: 'It is all but a done deal. They've been trying to get her for years. Obviously, she is a good name for the show.' The new series of Strictly Come Dancing is due to begin in September, with new hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe taking over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
