Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien has posted another cryptic message on Instagram, prompting fans to speculate she is unhappy about her ex-partner Ryan Thomas's recent baby announcement. The 36-year-old actress shared a quote reading: 'Don't waste your time with explanations. People will hear what they want to hear,' after deleting a previous post about not trusting social media.
The speculation began after Ryan, 35, posted a video on Sunday showing the moment his daughter Scarlett, 10, learned that he and his fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh, 28, are expecting their first child together. Tina, who shares Scarlett with Ryan, had earlier shared a post that read: 'Don't always trust what you see on social media. Even salt looks like sugar,' which was later deleted.
Fans were quick to comment on the posts, with many suggesting Tina was taking a swipe at Ryan. One follower wrote: 'Why take post down and put another up! U seem more bothered about Lucy being pregnant I think!' Another said: 'Her daughter was confronted by massive news not just in public but filmed and put on social media for the world to watch! Until you are in her shoes you shouldn’t judge.'
However, some fans defended Tina, arguing that the quotes may not be related to Ryan. One commented: 'Just because she puts up a quote does not mean it’s directly correlated to her ex! She is happily married and I’m sure she’s doing just fine.' Tina's current and former Coronation Street co-stars, Samia Longchambon and Nikki Sanderson, also commented on the original post, but those comments have since been deleted.
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Tina O'Brien, Ryan Thomas, and Lucy Mecklenburgh for comment. Ryan and Lucy's baby announcement video showed the couple telling Scarlett in their garden, a moment that some fans felt should have been kept private.
