A Coachella festival attendee suffered a head injury after a heavy light fixture fell onto her during a DJ set. The incident occurred on Friday night as DJ and producer John Summit performed a surprise set at the Do LaB stage.
An eyewitness, Joey Freshour, described the scene on Instagram, stating that the light fixture fell and struck a woman directly on the side of the head, causing a gash that bled heavily. Freshour noted that the woman was bleeding from the side of her head, with blood visible on the light fixture.
Freshour told SFGate that nearby audience members attempted to signal for medical help, and three men carried the injured woman to the medical tent. His video of the aftermath showed the large light fixture on the ground and the cables that had held it aloft.
The DJ was reportedly unaware of the incident, which was attributed to strong winds. The same windy conditions were said to have caused Justin Bieber to start his set late the following night.
