Jorginho Clarifies Chappell Roan Security Incident as ‘Misunderstanding’

Flamengo footballer Jorginho has retracted his earlier accusations against pop star Chappell Roan, describing the security incident involving his 11-year-old stepdaughter as a “misunderstanding”. In a statement on Instagram, the former Chelsea player said he had acted on incomplete information and now accepts that Roan was not involved.

The incident occurred on 21 March at a hotel in São Paulo, Brazil, where Roan was staying ahead of her performance at the Lollapalooza festival. Jorginho’s stepdaughter and wife were approached by a security guard, initially believed to be part of Roan’s team. Jorginho had claimed the guard spoke “in an extremely aggressive manner”, leaving his stepdaughter “extremely shaken”.

Roan denied any knowledge of the encounter, stating she was simply eating breakfast and was not approached by anyone. Security guard Pascal Duvier later came forward, taking full responsibility and clarifying that he was working for another individual, not Roan. He said: “I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan.”

Acknowledging Duvier’s statement, Jorginho wrote: “While we still do not know what prompted him to approach them, it is now clear that he was not acting on behalf of Chappell. It was, ultimately, a misunderstanding.” He added that Roan had reached out privately to his wife and that their teams had spoken directly.

Jorginho expressed regret for the impact on all parties and declared the matter closed. “As far as I am concerned, this matter is closed,” he said. The incident has sparked broader debate about the boundaries between celebrities and their fans.
