Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has revealed she is undergoing further tests in hospital amid her ongoing cancer battle. The 69-year-old actress, known for playing Liz McDonald, shared the update on Instagram, explaining she is being checked for a suspected blood clot in her right leg.
Callard, who appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! before her diagnosis, said she has been experiencing significant pain. She noted that blood clots are a known risk for cancer patients and those who have had surgery. Despite the scare, she remains positive and is looking forward to returning to work on Coronation Street next week.
In a candid Instagram video, Callard said: 'Well, I’ve got sort of good news, well definitely good news, but maybe bad news, but I’m not sure yet. The good news is my new script arrived yesterday in preparation for me going back to work at the end of next week. So I’m excited, I can’t wait to go back to work, and the scripts are fantastic.'
She added: 'But the negative side is I’ve had quite a lot of pain in my right leg. I had to go to the GP today and it’s a suspected blood clot which can happen if you’ve got cancer and if you’ve had surgery.'
Callard, who underwent surgery in February, also spoke about her emotional struggles, admitting she 'completely crashed' after seeing her body in the mirror. She said she has booked a Botox appointment to feel better ahead of her return to work, but stressed she is grateful for the support of her husband Jon and her family.
