Beverley Callard has revealed she is 'absolutely gutted' to miss the live final of I'm a Celebrity... South Africa All Stars after being advised not to travel on medical grounds. The 69-year-old former Coronation Street star was due to fly to London for the final but cancelled following advice from her doctors.
Callard previously exited the pre-recorded jungle portion of the series early after experiencing a 'funny turn'. It later emerged she had breast cancer, though she said at the time she did not know. She told followers: 'I just knew that it was the last couple of days there that I hadn't felt very well.'
She said flights were booked but doctors advised the day would be 'too long' with travel and a late night filming. Callard will instead appear via Zoom to chat with fellow campmates. She wrote on social media: 'A last minute change of plans… Absolutely gutted but I know it's for the best. Resting up and getting well is more important at the moment.'
Fellow contestants offered support, with Ashley Roberts posting: 'Bless ya Bev. We will miss ya.' Other fans and friends encouraged her to prioritise her health.
The remaining cast, including finalists Scarlett Moffatt, Mo Farah, Harry Redknapp, Adam Thomas and Craig Charles, are expected to attend. Jimmy Bullard, who initially said he would not appear after a controversial exit and threatened legal action, has since hinted he will attend, promising to tell his side of the story on Friday.
The live final will see Ant and Dec reunite the campmates. The winner of the All Stars series will be crowned 'legend of the jungle', with Adam Thomas emerging as a fan favourite after clashes with David Haye and Jimmy Bullard.
