Beverley Callard Exposes Unaired I'm A Celebrity Moment with Craig Charles

In an exclusive revelation, I'm A Celebrity star Beverley Callard has disclosed a private conversation with fellow contestant Craig Charles that will never air on ITV. The Coronation Street actress opened up about their unexpected reunion in the South African jungle, nearly a decade after their on-screen romance concluded.

Complicated Soap History Resurfaces

Bev and Craig portrayed Liz McDonald and Lloyd Mullaney on the long-running ITV soap, sharing a tumultuous romantic storyline that spanned several years. Their relationship proved particularly controversial because Lloyd was the best friend of Liz's son, Steve McDonald, played by Simon Gregson.

The pair initially began dating in early 2009, but their fling ended abruptly when Liz dumped Lloyd during a trip to Spain. However, they experienced a brief, unexpected reunion in 2015 when a drunken Lloyd slept with Liz following his split from Andrea Beckett, portrayed by Hayley Tamaddon, immediately regretting their night of passion.

Surprise Jungle Reunion

Both actors have since departed Coronation Street and were completely unaware they had both signed up for the second series of I'm A Celebrity... South Africa. Speaking on behalf of WhichBingo, Beverley explained the surprising circumstances of their jungle encounter.

"The biggest surprise for me was Craig Charles because we'd not talked to each other for quite a few months but I'm sure if we had spoken we would have told each other we were doing it," she revealed. "Craig and I were lovers in Coronation Street, which was so funny. We had deep, meaningful conversations, some of which they could not transmit."

Craig Charles' Previous Jungle Experience

Fan favourite Craig first participated in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! back in 2014, but his time on the show was tragically cut short. He withdrew from the competition after just four days when informed of the sudden death of his brother, Dean. The actor is currently battling to become an I'm A Celebrity... Legend after returning for the all-stars version as a late arrival alongside Gemma Collins.

Beverley's Previous Jungle Journey

Beverley made her debut on I'm A Celebrity in 2020, during the unique series that took place at Gwrych Castle in Wales instead of the Australian jungle due to COVID-19 restrictions. She finished in 10th place, experiencing a double elimination alongside Victoria Derbyshire.

Legendary Status Awaits

Fans must now wait to discover who will follow in the footsteps of series one winner Mylenne Klass and be crowned the next I'm A Celebrity Legend. The competition continues to unfold with unexpected reunions and revelations that extend beyond what viewers see on screen.

I'm A Celebrity... South Africa is available to stream on ITVX and continues tonight at 9.10pm on ITV1 and STV, though some of the most meaningful moments, as revealed by Beverley Callard, will remain forever unseen by the public.
