Stephen Amell, who plays Hobie in the upcoming Baywatch reboot, has expressed hope that original star David Hasselhoff will offer him advice. Amell's character is the son of Hasselhoff's Mitch Buchannon, and he told Extra: 'I certainly would welcome the advice. My character is trying to survive his father’s… very long shadow.'
Jessica Belkin, cast as Hobie's daughter Charlie, is excited about her connection to the original series. She said: 'I'm technically related to him in TV world. I'm the granddaughter. So that's pretty iconic.' Belkin described wearing the iconic red swimsuit as a 'dream come true'.
The cast also includes Hassie Harrison as lifeguard Nat. Baywatch creator Greg Bonin has been on set to offer tips, particularly on the show's signature slow-motion runs. Harrison noted: 'Slow motion is a funny thing because it either makes you look like the coolest person in the world or the lamest and there's no in between.' Bonin advised digging toes into the sand, like wearing heels, to elongate the legs.
Pamela Anderson, who played C.J. Parker in the original series, reportedly declined an invitation to appear in the reboot. A production source said: 'Pamela was approached – and she passed. She’s done with that chapter.' Producers are focusing on a fresh cast and updated storyline rather than nostalgia-driven cameos.
The original Baywatch aired from 1989 to 2001, becoming a global phenomenon and launching the careers of Anderson, Hasselhoff, and Carmen Electra. The reboot is set to air on Fox.
