White House Condemns California School's Controversial George Floyd Re-Enactment
White House condemns George Floyd school re-enactment

The White House has publicly denounced a California elementary school’s decision to stage a controversial re-enactment of George Floyd’s death as part of a Black History Month lesson, labelling the exercise 'deeply inappropriate' and 'harmful' to students.

According to reports, young pupils at a school in California were instructed to lie on the ground while a teacher recreated the events leading to Floyd’s death in 2020. The incident, which was intended to educate students about racial injustice, has sparked outrage among parents and officials.

White House Responds

In a strongly worded statement, the White House condemned the exercise, stating that such methods risked traumatising children rather than fostering understanding. 'There are far more appropriate ways to teach the history of racial inequality in America,' a spokesperson said.

Parental Backlash

Several parents expressed shock and anger upon learning about the lesson, with some calling for disciplinary action against the school. One parent described the re-enactment as 'disturbing' and 'wholly unnecessary' for young children.

The school district has since issued an apology, acknowledging that the lesson 'missed the mark' and vowing to review its educational policies.
