LK Bennett enters administration: major discounts on iconic British fashion
It became an official sponsor of Royal Ascot in 2023 after attracting legions of loyal fans, including the Princess of Wales. But in a devastating turn, LK Bennett has entered administration and shuttered its website, resulting in huge sales in-store and online at secondary retailers.
Designer Linda Bennett founded the store in 1990 with a £15,000 bank loan and £13,000 of her savings - and made a vow to bring 'a bit of Bond Street to the high street'. And indeed, she did: after opening her first store in Wimbledon village, it became an impressive British label boasting 200 stores in the UK, not to mention branches in the US, Russia, and China.
The clothing store captured a niche in British fashion, serving as a middle ground between designer price tags and high street retailers. And the founder's keen eye for fashion earned her the title of 'queen of the kitten heel', with her designs worn by A-Listers including Princess Kate, Theresa May and Holly Willoughby.
