Supernanny Jo Frost has shared a straightforward method for parents struggling to gain their children's respect: treat them with respect. In a TikTok video, the childcare expert told her 31,800 followers, 'You respect your children. Full stop.'
Frost advised parents to speak kindly, avoid swearing, listen without mocking, and remain calm when children cannot. She stressed the importance of upholding boundaries without engaging in 'verbal ping pong' like a playground argument. 'Act the adult. Be the grown parent, stop getting in your own way needing to be right over everyone feeling heard and respected,' she said.
The TV personality argued that respect cannot be demanded; it must be earned through how you treat others. 'The reason many of you struggle personally is because you spent years demanding to be respected, while you gave none to your children,' she added.
Frost's advice resonated with viewers, with one commenter calling her an 'absolute icon' who helped improve their relationship with their mother. The post also touched on broader parenting debates, as Frost previously backed a ban on social media for under-16s, citing 'too much harm' to future generations.
