Prime Minister Keir Starmer received the defensive Octopus drone as a personal gift from President Volodymyr Zelensky during his October visit to Downing Street. Official photographs released by Number 10 captured the moment between the two leaders, alongside an unexpected appearance by the residence's famous cat, Larry, posing beside the advanced military equipment.
Mr Starmer emphasised the drone's significance, stating: "The display of the Octopus drone in Downing Street will serve as a poignant reminder of Ukrainian people's bravery and courage as they defend their freedom from Russia's ongoing barbaric attacks."

The Prime Minister highlighted the unique partnership between the two nations, noting that this particular drone combines frontline Ukrainian innovation with British industrial capability. The Octopus represents the first of its kind to reach British shores, preceding mass production scheduled in the UK later this year.
This development follows a landmark summer agreement between Mr Starmer and President Zelensky to share crucial battlefield technology. Frontline data from Ukraine is fed into the Octopus system every six weeks, enabling British defence firms to rapidly design and manufacture cutting-edge military equipment tailored to real combat needs.
