Donald Trump has issued a new threat against Iran, vowing that US forces will seize the regime's "crown jewel" Kharg Island. In a Truth Social post, the President declared that the United States will hit Iran "very hard tonight" and eventually take control of the island and other oil infrastructure.
The threat comes after the US and Iran exchanged strikes for a second consecutive day, pushing the Middle East closer to a full-scale war. The American attack, which continued into Thursday morning in Iran, appeared more intense and widespread than the previous day's strikes. Iran released little information on the damage and claimed to have retaliated against Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, as it had done earlier.
Trump's Latest Statement
In his post, Trump wrote: "The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT."
He added: "At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP."
Escalating Conflict
The strikes mark a significant escalation in US-Iran tensions. Kharg Island, located in the Persian Gulf, is Iran's main oil export terminal, handling about 90% of the country's crude oil exports. Seizing it would severely disrupt Iran's economy and global oil markets.
This is a developing story. More updates will follow as information becomes available.
