In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, an Iranian ballistic missile was obliterated in space above Israel late on Sunday night. This incident marks a fresh barrage of missile launches from Iran as the two nations continue to exchange military strikes.
Interception Creates Spectacular Night Sky Display
Footage captured the precise moment when an Israeli defence system, identified as the Arrow 3 exoatmospheric anti-ballistic missile, successfully intercepted the incoming Iranian threat. Following the interception, a large light blue and purple glow illuminated and lingered in the night sky, creating a striking visual effect.
Advanced Defence Technology in Action
The Arrow 3 system is specifically engineered to operate outside Earth's atmosphere, neutralising threats while they are still in space. This hypersonic anti-ballistic missile has been deployed to counter intercontinental ballistic missiles and possesses the capability to target enemy satellites.
Israel has previously taken action against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force Headquarters, which has been utilised to enhance Iran's aerospace initiatives. Notably, this facility supported the 2022 launch of the Khayyam satellite.
Damage and Casualties Reported
Despite Israel's sophisticated defence technologies, debris and fragments from drones caused damage at multiple locations in central Israel. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this particular incident.
However, earlier attacks have resulted in significant casualties. In two Iranian strikes on southern Israeli towns near a nuclear facility, at least 180 people were wounded. Israel's health ministry confirmed that 116 individuals were injured in Arad and another 64 in Dimona following ballistic missile strikes on Saturday evening.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the impact site in Arad, describing it as a 'miracle' that no fatalities occurred. He issued a stark warning, asserting that Iran's missiles possess 'the capacity to reach deep into Europe' and that the regime is 'putting everyone in their sights.'
Ongoing Conflict Statistics
The Israeli Air Force has disclosed that Iran has launched approximately 400 missiles at Israel since the conflict began, with an impressive interception rate of 92 per cent successfully neutralised by defence systems.
