A British Army soldier has died in a training accident in northern Iraq, the Ministry of Defence confirmed on Monday.
Defence Secretary John Healey informed the House of Commons of the incident, which occurred on Sunday 31 May 2026. He said the soldier's family had been notified and had requested privacy before further details are released.
In a statement, a Ministry of Defence spokesperson expressed deep regret and offered condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. The cause of the accident has not been disclosed.
