Steven Gerrard is open to a return to English management, with Championship club Bristol City attempting to persuade him to become their next manager. The former Liverpool captain has been out of work since leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq in 2025.
Bristol City's Offer
Bristol City has presented what is described as an enticing and attractive project to convince Gerrard to join. The club believes his experience and leadership could be key to their ambitions in the Championship.
Interest from Burnley
Relegated Burnley are also reportedly interested in securing Gerrard's services. However, Bristol City appears to be leading the race, having made a formal approach.
Gerrard's last managerial role in England was at Aston Villa, where he was dismissed in October 2022 after a poor run of results. He then took charge of Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia but left in 2025. A return to the Championship would mark a new chapter in his managerial career.
