Donald Trump has proposed painting the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB) white, arguing that its current slate-grey exterior clashes with the neoclassical architecture of the White House. The proposal states the EEOB's French Second Empire style 'lacks any symbolic cohesion with the White House' and aims to address existing cracks and neglect in its stone facade.
Plans Submitted to Commission of Fine Arts
These plans have been submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), a panel of Trump appointees responsible for advising on public buildings in Washington, D.C. Separately, Trump also revealed plans for a 250-foot 'triumphal arch' on Memorial Circle, which has also been submitted to the CFA for consideration.
Review Scheduled for April
Both the EEOB painting and the triumphal arch proposals are scheduled for review by the Commission of Fine Arts at a meeting on 16 April. In full, Trump calls the Eisenhower executive building next to the White House an eyesore and submits paint job plans.
