Sky News was interrupted for a major Donald Trump update amid the conflict in Iran. Journalist Mark Stone revealed that President Trump had reached a settlement with Iran, leading to a bombshell announcement that left the President humiliated.
Sky News Interrupted for Breaking News
Sky News came to an abrupt halt on Wednesday following a breaking news update from the US. Mark Stone appeared on the programme to discuss President Donald Trump's "whiplash" decision to sign a deal with Iran.
"Well it's been a whiplash day because the day began with President Trump saying he was going to carry out the third and hardest night of air strikes yet," Stone told presenter Samantha Washington. "And yet a few hours later, he seemed to back down completely, suggesting that a deal was about to be signed, was almost ready and that, in fact, he wouldn't order that third night of strikes."
Trump's Deal with Iran
Stone noted that in "the last few minutes," President Trump had announced that Vice President JD Vance would attend an Iran-US signing deal in Europe "as soon as this weekend." However, he reiterated that there had been no official word from Iran's side yet.
"Take the President at face value, dangerous, but sometimes you have to, and maybe there is a deal now and some white smoke on this," Stone told viewers. "But, remember too, and this is the other caveat, this isn't a deal to end the war completely, this isn't a deal where one side capitulates, and the other side claims victory, not at all. The Iranians may well try and claim victory, Donald Trump for sure will try and claim victory, but all this actually is a memorandum of understanding, a piece of paper on which both sides agree to talk about the difficult issues that are and remain unresolved, like the nuclear issue."
President Donald Trump has stated that JD Vance will attend an Iran and US signing deal in Europe. Stone added: "And when you look at Donald Trump's initial war aims, removing Iran's capability to build a nuclear weapon, he hasn't done that. Getting out the nuclear material from Iran, the enriched uranium, he hasn't done that either. The war aims are by no means complete."
Public Backlash
Viewers were unimpressed with the latest update, as they took to social media to hit out. One said: "Clockwork. Peace on Friday. War on Monday." Another added: "This will be about the 28th time he has said deal imminent. Guy's a senile fat orange slob." A third chimed in: "The whole situation is beyond belief and he is a disastrous War President. The reality is that many war crimes have taken place. The elderly, men, women and children have been recklessly killed and Trump hasn't achieved the original aim, of removing Iran's ability to build."
