Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been issued a stern warning to avoid one specific action during their upcoming UK trip: leaking details of any private meeting with King Charles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are scheduled to visit the UK next week for public and private engagements, and while they originally planned to bring their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, Harry's rejection of taxpayer-funded security may alter those arrangements.
Former Royal Butler Issues Caution
Grant Harrold, a former royal butler who worked for King Charles when he was Prince of Wales between 2004 and 2011, spoke to The Daily Express on behalf of AceOdds. He stressed that the couple must keep any potential meeting with the monarch strictly confidential. “If they do meet, it will be crucial that Meghan and Harry keep details of the meeting private. If they don’t, it could jeopardise future relations,” Harrold said.
Harrold added that the meeting, if it goes ahead, is intended to be private, and any leaks could damage the family dynamic. “I think the meeting will be private, but I imagine details will be leaked like the last time Harry and the King met,” he warned.
Security Concerns and Family Reunion
Harry last met his father in September 2025, but Meghan and the couple's children have not seen the monarch since 2022, when the King last visited the UK. Harry is reportedly seeking a safe way for his children to travel to the UK in July, following the decision that the family will not receive UK taxpayer-funded security. The prince is said to be keen for his children to meet the King, but security issues remain a hurdle.
The warning comes amid ongoing tensions between the Sussexes and the royal family. Harry's security appeal was recently rejected, leading to uncertainty about the children's visit. The couple's UK trip is expected to include both public appearances and private family time, but the former butler's advice underscores the delicate nature of these interactions.
