Scaffolder Paralyzed in Trampoline Accident Will Not Recover, Doctors Confirm

A scaffolder from Stockton, Durham, who was left paralysed after a freak trampoline accident, will not recover from his injuries, doctors have confirmed. Rob Harcourt, 37, suffered a dislocated neck and kinked spinal cord after tripping and falling into a trampoline at a friend's house.

Close friend Alan Jones revealed that doctors informed the family that Mr Harcourt's injuries are “catastrophic” and he will never recover. His family have been invited to say their goodbyes. Initially, doctors believed he would be paralysed from the chest down, but he later suffered a cardiac arrest and fluid on the brain, requiring major surgery.

Mr Harcourt has remained in the intensive care unit at James Cook University Hospital since the accident. After being taken off sedation, he was able to move his eyes but tragically could not wake up. Alan Jones said: “The consultants have today confirmed that Rob will not recover. His close friends and family have been invited to say their goodbyes.”

A GoFundMe page set up by friends Alan and Amanda Jones has raised over £6,300 to support Mr Harcourt's partner Jade Higgins and his family. The funds have helped ease financial pressures, allowing Jade to focus on being with Rob.
