A compliment from a stranger is the top mood booster for many Brits, according to new research from electric vehicle charging company Pod. The study found that 84% of Brits say an unexpected compliment can turn their day around, and 80% believe small, regular rewards make a bigger difference than large one-off bonuses.
Top Mood Boosters Revealed
The survey identified the most effective little things: praise from strangers topped the list at 44%, followed by finally finishing a task you've been putting off (40%) and receiving an unexpected freebie or discount (39%). Over three-quarters of Brits (79%) said the best rewards are small, unexpected and effortless.
EV Drivers Report Easy Transition
Pod also surveyed EV drivers about home charging. 81% found it easier than expected, and 98% said it quickly became part of their routine. The company’s Pod Rewards scheme pays customers up to £100 per year for smart charging overnight.
To promote the findings, Pod sent internet personality Troy Hawke, known as the “King of Compliments,” to surprise customers at their homes. “It was a genuine joy surprising Pod customers on a beautiful day in the Southeast of England and reminding them what a wonderful and practical decision they made,” Hawke said.
CEO on Rewarding Everyday Choices
Melanie Lane, CEO of Pod, commented: “We want electric living to feel simple; giving people confidence that they have made a choice that feels easy, more affordable and rewarding. Pod Rewards is not just about the cash customers earn for smart charging; it's also about the feeling that comes from trusting their decision and seeing that choice pay off every day.”
