Teacher advises ignoring parent calls at 10.30am in response to sleep tips
Teacher says ignore 10.30am calls for better sleep

Teacher’s insomnia tip rebuttal

Colin Mann writes that he noted Dr Jemma King’s advice to aid sleeping by making a to-do list before bed, which included the example “Call Sammy’s teachers at 10.30am”. As a teacher of 34 years of broken sleep, Mann says he will create his own list: “Item 1: ignore Sammy’s parent’s phone call at 10.30am as I will be too busy teaching. If it’s important, they will leave a message. I feel better already.”

Wildfire perspective

Emeritus professor Glyn Turton comments on the wildfires in France and Spain, where more than 200,000 people fled or locked down. He references the poetic lines “Some say the world will end in fire, / Some say in ice,” noting that argument is settled.

Supper definitions

Hannah Kaitlin-Boyer believes everyone knows what she means by supper. Mike Jones responds that supper is a substantial meal taken just before bedtime, sometimes from the chipper. Nigel Steel offers a complete meal schedule: breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, lunch, afternoon tea, high tea, dinner, supper, and a little something before bed to ward off night starvation.
