A man who was self-conscious about his receding hairline has taken the bold step of shaving his head completely – and the transformation has made him look up to eight years younger, according to online commentators.
After months of lurking on the r/bald Reddit thread, he finally decided to shave off the remaining hair. He shared before-and-after photos online, showing his previous thinning hair alongside a cleanly shaved scalp.
In his post, he wrote: 'I did it! Before and after. Lurked on this sub for a few months. Not sure I would have taken the plunge without the positivity in the community.' The results drew widespread praise, with one user commenting: 'That seriously made you look five to eight years younger. Looks awesome.'
Others offered practical advice on maintenance, including using moisturiser and sunscreen. One commenter warned: 'Sunburn on top is an experience you absolutely want to miss. Moisturiser and SPF in one will become your bestie.'
According to the NHS, losing 50 to 100 hairs a day is normal, and most hair loss is temporary or a natural part of ageing. However, they note that some types, such as male pattern baldness, are permanent and often hereditary.
