Quick 20-Minute Tiramisu: My Simple 6-Ingredient Egg-Free Recipe
Quick 20-Minute Tiramisu: Simple 6-Ingredient Egg-Free Recipe

My tiramisu recipe is delicious and simple to put together. Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert that's loved all over the world for its rich, creamy texture and perfect balance of sweetness and coffee flavour. Traditionally made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a luscious mascarpone cream, it's the kind of dessert that feels both indulgent and comforting.

My version is super flavoursome but makes things much simpler. I've trialled lots of recipes and merged them to create my perfect one. It's incredibly easy to put together and completely egg-free, perfect for anyone with allergies like me.

Ingredients

  • 250g ladyfingers
  • Double espresso
  • 250g mascarpone
  • 90g icing sugar
  • 500ml double cream
  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting

The ladyfingers need to be dipped briefly into the espresso.

Method

Start by brewing your coffee and leaving it to cool. They need to be completely cool before dipping the ladyfingers into them.

Next, whip the double cream until soft peaks. Soft peaks are where the cream is aerated enough to hold its shape briefly when a whisk is lifted, but the tip curls over and droops immediately.

Then pop it to one side and add the mascarpone, icing sugar, and vanilla extract to another bowl. Make sure to mix this really well until combined and loosened.

Once combined, gradually mix the mascarpone into the cream until combined.

Next, dip the ladyfingers into the coffee briefly, then line them up in your chosen dish. I used a 20 x 20 cm dish, and it fit perfectly.

Once the bottom layer of the dish is full of ladyfingers, evenly spread half of the cream mixture, then another layer of soaked ladyfingers, finishing it with another layer of cream.

Let this sit in the fridge for at least eight hours, but I found it tasted better the following day.

Before serving, lightly dust with cocoa powder, if you wish. This recipe served a generous six portions but could have easily served 12 smaller portions. It's so delicious with a light coffee flavour and the perfect amount of sweetness running throughout.
