Paddy McGuinness shows off ripped abs after 75 Hard challenge

Television star Paddy McGuinness has stunned fans by showcasing a dramatically toned physique, complete with defined abdominal muscles, following a demanding 75-day fitness regime.

The Dramatic Before and After

The 52-year-old presenter took to Instagram on Saturday to share a powerful before-and-after photo set, highlighting the results of his commitment to the viral 75 Hard challenge. In the captions, McGuinness expressed disbelief at his starting point, attributing it to a period of overindulgence. "I still can’t believe how much I’d let myself go," he wrote. "That before pic is the result of just under two months of binge eating — beer, cakes, and biscuits! The effect it had on my body, and more importantly my mind, was staggering."

He promised to release a full time-lapse video of his journey on Monday, adding: "It really is amazing what can be achieved in such a short period of time… if you’ve got the willpower." McGuinness, who said he "thoroughly enjoyed" the process, is now reportedly seeking out his next physical test.

What is the 75 Hard Challenge?

The rigorous programme, created by American entrepreneur Andy Frisella in 2019, is designed to forge mental toughness alongside physical change. It mandates five non-negotiable daily tasks for 75 consecutive days:

  • Two separate 45-minute workouts, one of which must be outdoors.
  • Drinking a gallon (approximately 4.5 litres) of water.
  • Following a structured diet with no cheat meals or alcohol.
  • Reading 10 pages of a non-fiction or self-development book.
  • Taking a daily progress picture.

Frisella promotes the challenge as a catalyst for "physical and mental transformations", though it is widely noted for its extreme intensity.

Family Focus During the Festive Season

The personal milestone for McGuinness follows a period of significant change in his family life. He and his ex-wife, model Christine McGuinness, spent Christmas together for the sake of their three children. The pair announced their separation in July 2022 after 11 years of marriage but have continued to co-parent amicably from the family home.

Speaking to The Sun before the holidays, Paddy emphasised their commitment to putting the children first. "I feel for people who separate. Separations are a tough experience for anyone to go through," he said. "So if you can come out of it as friends and still get on and do the best for your kids, it’s a bonus." When asked about Christmas plans, he confirmed, "Of course, because both of our families are our children’s relatives. Our children are always happy to see all of our family."

McGuinness's transformation serves as a testament to his recent dedication, proving that significant change is possible with sustained effort and discipline.
