Kitchen Tongs Revealed as Secret to Quick Blind Cleaning
Kitchen Tongs Revealed as Secret to Quick Blind Cleaning

As spring approaches and pollen levels rise, keeping blinds free from dust and allergens becomes a priority for many households. A simple solution may already be in your kitchen cupboard: a pair of tongs.

According to interior specialists at Lifestyle Blinds, wrapping both ends of kitchen tongs in microfibre cloths and securing them with elastic bands creates an effective cleaning tool. By gripping each slat between the tongs and sliding along, you can clean both sides of the blind in one smooth motion – ideal for aluminium and slatted blinds.

Other household items can also help. A sock slipped over the hand and dampened with warm water and washing-up liquid works well for individual slats. For fabric blinds, vacuuming with a soft brush attachment is recommended. Dryer sheets can reduce static on wooden or faux-wood Venetian blinds.

For fabric vertical blinds, detaching and washing them inside a pillowcase or wash bag on a gentle cycle is an option, but always check the care label first.
