TV presenter Josie Gibson has candidly discussed her health challenges, attributing them to the overwhelming stress of a major home renovation project. The 41-year-old, known for her roles on This Morning and Big Brother, admitted that the undertaking has placed an immense burden on her.
Moving into a Caravan
Last year, Josie relocated to a caravan in her back garden while renovating her dilapidated Somerset property into a sustainable, eco-friendly dream home. The process has been far from smooth. Shortly after moving in, she locked herself out of the caravan and had to pay a locksmith £154 to regain entry.
Documenting the Journey
The renovation will be featured in Josie Gibson's Big Country Build, a seven-part ITV series airing later this year. The show follows Josie, her brothers Charlie and Josh, her cousin Tom, and a team of locals as they work on the £1 million property.
Speaking to Closer magazine, Josie said: "I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible, but I have bitten off a lot more than I can chew. The amount of stress it's taken to this stage is ridiculous, and everything has been on my shoulders. I've even started to have some eyesight issues because of it."
Dream of a Quiet Life
Once the building work is complete, Josie hopes to live off-grid with her son Reggie and their animals. A source told The Mirror that she "doesn't care" about fame and wants to "settle down with a nice man" to create a stable family life for Reggie.
Health Struggles
Last month, Josie opened up about a painful health condition she has been battling. She was diagnosed with lipoedema, a disorder that causes abnormal fat accumulation in the legs and sometimes arms. Despite diet and exercise, the fat cannot be lost through conventional means.
In an interview with Woman magazine, she explained: "No matter how fit you are or what your diet is, with lipoedema you can’t lose fat. So I had to do something about it and I’ve had two surgeries now – liposuction and an arm lift. My arms were really lumpy and horrible. I’ve got this little waist, I shouldn’t have cellulite on my arms!"
Recovering from surgery, Josie admitted that the procedure has been challenging. "I couldn’t even put the bins out," she revealed, as she waits for her bandages to be removed.
Viewers can catch Josie on How to Clean Up for Cash tonight (Monday, May 12) from 7:30pm to 8pm on ITV.
