Beauty brand Deciem, the company behind The Ordinary and NIOD, has brought back one of its most iconic discontinued products. The Chemistry Brand, a sub-brand of Deciem, is best known for its Hand Chemistry cream, which originally launched in 2013 and has now returned to shelves following sustained demand from its loyal fan base.
A Cult Favourite Revived
The story behind the cream is unique: at the time of its original launch, the brand founder was under a non-compete agreement for face creams, so he channelled all his anti-ageing expertise into a hand cream instead. The result was a product that promised to de-age hands by 10 years in just 10 days, quickly becoming a fan favourite with rave reviews. Although the brand has not revived that specific claim, the formula remains a serious, science-led treatment for hands.
According to DECIEM, the relaunch comes after “overwhelming community demand” following its discontinuation in 2022. The return has been highly anticipated, with fans expressing their excitement across social media and forums.
What Makes Hand Chemistry Special?
Hand Chemistry is not a standard moisturising hand cream. It is designed as a multi-tasking treatment that targets multiple signs of ageing simultaneously, including texture, dryness, dullness and loss of elasticity. The updated formula contains a blend of six key technologies, including a 1% Biological GHK Complex with copper to support the skin’s natural repair processes. Hydrating and barrier-strengthening ingredients such as Tremella mushroom and plant-based complexes work to lock in moisture and improve overall skin quality.
One Reddit user described it as “the most amazing hand cream I’ve ever used,” adding that it “did more than just moisturise. It somehow got rid of fine lines and crepey skin.” Fans who had been searching for alternatives can now end their search, as the product is back on the market.
Copper peptides, a key active ingredient in the cream, are currently popular in skincare, often found in facial serums rather than body creams. Similar products include Medik8 Liquid Peptides, priced at £59, which promises visible plumping in seven days, and Biossance Squalane and Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum, at £55.
