A cleaning expert has shared a simple hack that can clean even the dirtiest microwave in just two minutes, with no scrubbing required. The method uses only water and half a lemon, making it both cost-effective and chemical-free.
Lorna White, writing for Yours magazine, explains that the steam from the heated lemon water loosens grime and grease. Users need to place a heat-proof cup of water with half a lemon and its juice in the microwave and heat on high for one to two minutes.
After the microwave turns off, it is important to leave the mixture inside with the door closed for five minutes. This allows the steam to work on stubborn residue. Then, simply wipe down the interior with a microfibre cloth for a spotless finish.
White notes that the hack leaves the kitchen smelling fresh and clean, and works effectively on even the most neglected microwaves. The tip has been praised as 'genius' for its simplicity and speed.
