As the UK swelters through a heatwave, many are struggling to get a good night's sleep without air conditioning. Cleaning influencer Lynsey Crombie, known as Lynsey Queen Of Clean, has shared a simple trick: freeze your bedsheet for 15 minutes before bedtime.
Speaking on Facebook, Crombie advised: “Pop your bed sheet into a plastic covering and place it in the freezer for 15 minutes before bed for a lovely cool night's sleep. When you get into bed later with your nice cold sheets, you're going to be lovely and cool.”
The hack works by lowering your core temperature, making it easier to fall asleep. Crombie emphasised that no new sheets are needed: “You just grab a spare sheet out of the cupboard, pop it in the freezer, take it to bed with you, and it will cool you down before you fall asleep.”
One Facebook user suggested using hot water bottles filled with ice-cold water, but Crombie pointed out a drawback: “Yeah, that's a good one, but you can never use it as a hot water bottle again.” For daytime cooling, she recommends drawing curtains and blinds to block direct sunlight, preventing bedrooms from becoming uncomfortably warm.
