Doggy Style Named UK's Top Position for Fastest Orgasms
Doggy Style: UK's Top Position for Fastest Orgasms

Doggy style is the position that both men and women in the UK reach orgasm fastest in, according to survey data from Superdrug Online Doctor. Nearly half of Brits (47%) named it their favourite go-to position, and 21% of men and 14% of women said it brings them to orgasm more quickly than any other, citing intensity and physical stimulation as the combination behind it.

Why women favour doggy style

Women who took part pointed to G-spot stimulation as the main reason. One woman on Reddit said: 'It gives me the most intense G-spot stimulation of any position,' while another simply added: 'Hits some great spots.'

Being on all fours also allows access to other pleasure centres. One woman explained: '[It] feels amazing, my clit is available for stimulation, I love my hips grabbed in doggy… I also love the feel of the balls slapping my p**sy in doggy and hair pulling is optimal.'

Another described a similar experience: 'Feels amazing, he hits all my good spots, I like feeling his balls slap against my p**sy, he can pull my hair or grab my hips or learn down and kiss my shoulders/back, whisper nasty things in my ear, grab handfuls of my a**, reach around and play with my clit… what's not to love?'

What the survey found on depth and angle

Sex expert Gigi Engle previously told Metro how to find the G-spot, describing it as 'the back end of the clitoris, more specifically the structural intersection of the vagina, the urethral sponge, and the clitoris'. She added: 'The clit actually reaches inside the body back towards the anus, and you can find it by hooking up with your fingers behind the pubic bone and feeling for a walnut textured area, that's the spot.'

Constant stimulation of this area with a penis, sex toy or fingers can lead to orgasm. In doggy style, the penis is likely to rub on top of this area, making it, as the article notes, 'pretty orgasmic'.

Preferences on depth and angle vary between women, but many said doggy style offered the right combination. 'The angle of penetration is just right,' one said. 'It's deep but not too deep. I feel exposed. I love when my tits jiggle from his thrusting, and it's a hot sensation.'

Men cite control and the visual element

Men reported a slightly different outlook, though they also credited the angles and depth with a heightened experience. 'It's easy to achieve balls-deep penetration in that position,' wrote one. Another said: 'Men like doggy because we are in control of the pace, how deep we are going, how hard.'

A sense of dominance was another factor raised by men. One explained: 'Someone bent over like that and me f**king them is not me having sex with them, it's me f**king them while they take it. It's raw, dominating and hot.' Another said: 'It feels very dominant taking someone from behind, it's a big turn on for me,' while a third added: 'Raw, primal, animalistic. I'm in total control. Love it.'

Others pointed to the visual element as a factor in faster climax. 'Seeing myself going in and out of you is probably the biggest plus for me,' one man mentioned. Another admitted: 'I loved doggy style in front of the mirror, we called it "the finisher"… just seeing her beautiful a** bounce up and down on me really made me cum so quickly.'

Doggy style also carries the highest injury risk

The position is also the riskiest, according to a recent Lovehoney study, which found doggy style was the position in which more than half of Brits sustained a sex injury. Wrist injuries and carpet burns are the most common traumas.

Annabelle Knight, Lovehoney's psychosexual therapist, said part of the issue is that 'the giver needs to be careful where they're placing their weight to avoid straining the receiver's wrists'. To avoid it, she recommends 'maintaining an upright posture instead of resting down on the receiver will relieve that pressure', adding that 'the receiver, instead of resting on their hands, can then rest on their forearms instead'. For friction burns, the advice is to stick to the bed rather than the floor, or at least place a soft blanket underneath beforehand.
