Deep clean sink with hypochlorous acid, not vinegar

A cleaning professional has shared her preferred non-toxic method for deep cleaning kitchen sinks and drains, using hypochlorous acid rather than vinegar or baking soda alone.

Why hypochlorous acid?

Your kitchen sink can harbour more germs than a toilet seat, as food remnants, meat residue, and dampness create an ideal environment for bacteria. Courtney, who shares tips via her Instagram account @courtney.onpurpose, revealed the natural product she swears by.

She explained: "The typical commercial cleaning products are full of harmful fumes and chemicals that you are inhaling. Honestly I used to use and have tried all of them until I learned a safer and just as effective (may I say better) better way."

Her solution is hypochlorous acid, which she calls the "most underrated non-toxic disinfectant". A 500ml bottle of hypochlorous acid disinfectant is available for £5.99 from HOCL.

Courtney added: "It kills bacteria and viruses without any harsh chemicals, no fumes, and it is completely safe around your kids and pets." The acid can also be used on worktops, soft furnishings, and certain products are gentle enough for skin.
