Amy Dowden, the Strictly Come Dancing star, has shared a health update as she undergoes her second round of chemotherapy following a breast cancer diagnosis. The 33-year-old dancer, who recently revealed doctors found 'another type of cancer', posted a series of photos on Instagram Story showing her in a hospital bed, wearing a pink hoodie and a cold cap.
Dowden wrote that she felt 'much better this time around' compared to her first session, adding: 'Last time my nerves and emotions were all over the place. This time I feel more relaxed and the staff here are just amazing in every way.' In a video clip, she said: 'Chemo number two, here we go. I am only smiling because it is one step closer to finishing.'
Earlier this month, Dowden celebrated her 33rd birthday with her twin sister Becky, sharing a throwback photo from her wedding. She admitted that 'any milestone is a reminder' at the moment and 'it hurts' as she is far from what she 'should be doing normally'. Her birthday wish was for everyone to check themselves, promoting awareness through Coppa Feel.
Dowden was first diagnosed with aggressive stage three breast cancer in May after finding a lump while preparing for her honeymoon with husband Ben Jones. She has since undergone surgery, a mastectomy, and fertility treatment. The professional dancer remains positive, stating she is 'one step closer to being back on the dance floor'.
