Emmerdale's Dean Andrews Shares Positive Update After Eye Surgery
Emmerdale star Dean Andrews undergoes eye surgery

Former Emmerdale actor Dean Andrews has been flooded with well-wishes from his loyal fanbase after he took to social media to share a positive health update following a surgical procedure.

Social Media Reveal Post-Surgery

On Friday, the actor, best known for playing Will Taylor on the popular ITV soap, posted a photograph on his Instagram account showing him wearing clear protective eye shields. The image depicted Andrews strapped into a car seat, dressed in a black golf polo shirt, shortly after his operation.

In a message accompanying the post, the star provided a reassuring update for his followers, writing simply: "Eye surgery went ok thankfully." This candid share prompted an immediate and supportive response from his audience.

An Outpouring of Fan Support

Fans swiftly filled the comments section with messages of encouragement and relief. One supporter commented, "Good news. Get well soon," while another typed, "Hope you have a speedy recovery." A further fan added, "Glad to hear your happy with your op. Take care of yourself," highlighting the strong connection Andrews maintains with his public.

This is not the first time this year that the actor has alerted fans to a hospital visit. Back in February, Andrews shared a photo of himself in a hospital gown, giving two thumbs up from his bed.

At that time, he credited his medical team, writing: "Surgery went well. Very happy to have woken up. Many thanks to my surgeon Chris and all the staff." While the nature of that earlier procedure was not specified, this latest post confirms his ongoing focus on his health.

Life After Emmerdale

Andrews portrayed the character of Will Taylor on Emmerdale from 2019 until the character was written out and killed off in December last year. Since his departure from the soap, the actor has not returned to television screens.

His exit fulfilled a previous statement he made about his deep affection for the show. He once told The Sun that he felt so settled at Emmerdale that the writers would have to "kick me out," a scenario that ultimately came to pass with his character's departure.

Away from his acting work, Dean Andrews is also a recognised voiceover artist, having narrated the UK documentary series Casualty 24/7 since its launch in 2018.
