Woman Found Dead in Bed After Police Called to Bridgend Home

An inquest has heard that a woman was found dead in her bed after police were called to her home in Bridgend. Officers attended an address in Tairfelin, Wildmill, in May 2025 following reports of concern for Sara Baldwin, 44, who had not been seen for several days.

Police Forced Entry to Secure Property

After gaining entry to her house, Ms Baldwin was found deceased in her bed. Pontypridd coroners' court heard that the property was secure and there was no evidence of another person being involved in her death. Assistant coroner David Regan noted that Ms Baldwin suffered from anxiety, depression, and chronic alcohol dependence, for which she had received repeated inpatient and community treatment.

Post-Mortem Findings and Cause of Death

A post-mortem examination identified that Ms Baldwin suffered from steatohepatitis, also known as fatty liver disease, along with other features consistent with chronic alcohol misuse. The court was told she died as a result of "sudden unexplained death in alcohol misuse." Mr Regan recorded a conclusion of alcohol-related death.
