Karina Zeviani, a model and singer who appeared on the Brazilian version of The Voice, has died at the age of 51. She passed away on 8 October in a hospital in Brazil after a long battle with her health.

In 2005, she joined Thievery Corporation, an American electronic music collective, after being recommended by Talking Heads' lead singer David Byrne. Members Rob Garza and Eric Hilton paid tribute, saying: "She was a beautiful, talented and truly lovely soul, with an aura and vibrance that were impossible to forget."

Three years after joining Thievery Corporation, she became the singer for the French group Nouvelle Vague. She released her solo album Amor Iventado in 2012. Following news of her death, a friend described her as "a person full of sparkle".
