A two-year-old crossbreed dog named Dolly, who was rescued from the streets of Greece in a severely emaciated state, is now looking for a loving home in the UK. Weighing around 22kg, Dolly was found weak, unable to use her back legs, and with bones visibly protruding through her frail body.
After completing treatment for Leishmaniasis, Dolly has made a remarkable recovery and can now stand and walk. A rescue worker from Greek Stray ResQ said: 'She was found in a heartbreaking state - weak, emaciated, and unable to use her back legs. But she didn’t give up. Today, Dolly has successfully completed her treatment for Leishmaniasis - and she’s standing, walking, and ready for a second chance at life.'
The rescue organisation noted that while Dolly's behaviour around other dogs and cats is unknown, she is expected to do well with children if introductions are calm and gentle. They described her as 'perfect for someone kind and committed, who understands that love and stability can change a dog’s entire world.'
Dolly's story has touched many online, with one Facebook user commenting: 'A transformation of love and prayer - now share to find a forever home!' Another added: 'Poor mite. Can’t imagine what she’s been through. Please share for a loving home.'
Greek Stray ResQ, a volunteer-led organisation, carefully matches animals with suitable families and conducts home checks and adoption contracts.
