Summit Foods has recalled four filled wrap products due to possible contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), prompting an urgent "do not consume" warning for customers.
Products affected by the recall
The affected items are the Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, Snacksters Hoi Sin Wrap, East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap, and Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap. All are individual wraps with use-by dates up to and including 5th September 2026.
Customers who have bought any of these products are advised not to consume them. Instead, they should dispose of the product and contact the company for a refund.
Symptoms of STEC infection
Symptoms caused by STEC can include severe diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and occasionally haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) - a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure and can be fatal.
Anyone experiencing these symptoms should stay away from work, school, or nursery until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours to avoid passing the infection on to others.
Refund instructions from Summit Foods
A note from Summit Foods to consumers reads: "If you have bought the above product, do not consume it. Instead, dispose of the product and provide proof of purchase on sales@summitfoods.co.uk, stating when and where it was purchased, for a refund."
The Foods Standards Agency (FSA) issues Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.
