Part of the Royal Liverpool Hospital was evacuated as a precaution following reports of a gas leak on Tuesday evening. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to the hospital at 7.14pm on August 25.
Emergency response
Three fire engines arrived at the scene shortly afterwards. When the ECHO arrived, two fire engines were parked on Mount Vernon Road with fire crews gathered nearby. A fire alarm could also be heard sounding.
The Liverpool Clinical Laboratories site appeared to have been evacuated, while the rest of the hospital remained open as normal.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: “Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service is currently in attendance at an incident at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.
“Crews were alerted at 7.14pm following reports of a gas leak and three fire engines arrived on scene shortly after.
“The building has been evacuated as a precaution and firefighters are working closely with hospital staff and partners to investigate the scene.
“The incident is ongoing.”
