Sewing Bee fans react as Adele leaves in music week

Adele became the latest contestant to leave The Great British Sewing Bee during Tuesday's music week episode, a result that left many viewers unhappy.

Music Week Challenges

The remaining sewers competed for a place in the upcoming quarter-final, taking on three tasks set by judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young. One challenge involved recreating Madonna's iconic cone bra, while another saw the group split into two teams of three to create pop star outfits using bedroom furniture.

The final made-to-measure task required each contestant to craft an ensemble inspired by the disco pop music movement of the 1970s.

Adele's Exit

Anna impressed the judges most with her silver number and unique trousers, which Esme confessed she wanted. Host Sophie Willian then announced that Adele would be leaving the programme.

As the other contestants rushed to hug her, Adele could be seen wiping her eyes while saying her goodbyes. Speaking to the camera, she said she had had 'so much fun' and praised the people she had met, admitting she'd 'remember it for the rest of my life'.

Adele called it a 'dream' to meet the judges, and Patrick explained that she could leave feeling 'proud' of herself. However, he noted she had a 'mountain to climb' after her previous performances, telling viewers it was an 'imposible task' for her to turn around.

Viewer Reaction

Viewers quickly commented on the exit, with many unimpressed that Adele's time in the competition had ended. One person said: "Shame Adele had to leave! I liked her." Another wrote: "I’m sorry but it feels so anti music week to send her home this week with that name…."

Someone else said they were 'sad' to see Adele leave, while another shared it was 'very unlucky' her time had come to an end. The Great British Sewing Bee is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
