MG HS named best value car in UK by over 100,000 drivers
MG HS tops Carwow survey as best value car in UK

The MG HS has been named the best value car on sale in the UK, according to a survey of more than 100,000 drivers conducted by online car selling platform Carwow. The Anglo-Chinese SUV came top, followed by the Dacia Sandero and the Dacia Duster.

Survey results

In third place was the Romanian Dacia Duster SUV, praised as a good-value family vehicle with genuine off-road capability, though it lacked a plug-in hybrid option. Second place went to the Dacia Sandero hatchback, described as practical and straightforward to drive, but criticised for missing some technology and a stripped-back entry-level model.

The MG HS, a hybrid electric SUV also available in plug-in hybrid form, took the top spot. Owners highlighted its practicality, affordability, comfort, and fuel efficiency.

Carwow comment

Carwow said: "Taking the top spot is the MG HS. This SUV is spacious, well-equipped, and comes in a plug-in hybrid version with fantastic electric range. However, it's not very fun to drive, and the infotainment is fiddly. That hasn't stopped owners from praising its value for money, though."

Fuel economy tips

The article also referenced advice from Auto Express on improving fuel economy, including checking tyre pressures, removing weight, checking oil levels, and removing roof boxes or bars. Reporter Shane Wilkinson suggested planning efficient routes and considering walking or cycling instead, noting that short trips hurt fuel economy because engines work best when fully warmed up.
