Bandmates Share Heartbreaking News

"Our beloved bandmate, sister and friend Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer," the group announced on Instagram. "Following multiple surgeries and serious complications, Jennifer now requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation and professional in-home support."

The band revealed that Finch will be unable to join them on The Last Hurrah Tour in October, as she focuses on her recovery. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover urgent expenses, allowing Finch to remain at home with "the care, dignity and support she needs."

Community Rallies Around Finch

After encouraging fans to donate, the band members added: "Jennifer is part of our family. We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years."

Fellow musicians, including punk legend Joan Jett, have shared the appeal on Instagram. Violet Grohl, daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, wrote: "Oh my god sending so much love and strength." Actress and musician Juliette Lewis also expressed support, asking where to find the GoFundMe to share it.

GoFundMe Details and Complications

According to the GoFundMe page, Finch initially believed a full course of radiation would help her return to normal after the diagnosis. However, unforeseen complications led to multiple surgeries and a series of difficult setbacks. Campaign organizer Aubree Miller explained: "The cancer and everything that comes with it have left her with significant physical limitations so she's handling this the only way she knows how: one day at a time."

Miller noted that the level of care Finch needs has exceeded what friends and family can safely provide. "The cost of giving Jennifer the care she needs is overwhelming, but it's what gives her the best chance for meaningful improvement while maintaining as much comfort, dignity, and independence as possible. These funds will also help to ensure Jennifer's life work keeps making noise long after this moment."

A Storied Career

Finch is best known as the primary bassist for L7, but she has also performed with her bands OtherStarPeople and The Shocker. During the early 90s, she made headlines for her relationship with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. Her diagnosis has drawn an outpouring of support from the music community and fans worldwide.
