Katie Price says son Harvey will start weight loss drug Mounjaro after BMI hits 59
Katie Price: Son Harvey to start weight loss drug Mounjaro

Katie Price has revealed that her eldest son, Harvey, will begin taking the weight loss drug Mounjaro after their return from a holiday to Ibiza.

The 48-year-old former glamour model discussed Harvey's weight on the latest episode of The Katie Price podcast, which she co-hosts with her sister Sophie. She disclosed that the 24-year-old's Body Mass Index (BMI) is twice that of someone classified as obese, prompting them to take action.

“Harvey is starting the Mounjaro,” she said. Sophie replied: “Yeah, I think that will really help him because he’s struggling at the minute.”

Health concerns and quality of life

Katie continued: “I can’t wait. Then he can do the rollercoasters, he can do more, walk more and have more energy. To be obese you need to have a BMI of 27. Harvey’s is 59, so way up - he’s morbidly obese.”

“So he needs it for his health. This isn’t for looks, it’s for a better quality of life for him,” she added.

Harvey was diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome at a young age, a rare genetic condition that can cause learning difficulties, behavioural challenges and physical symptoms. He is also autistic and blind with septo-optic dysplasia, a congenital syndrome involving underdevelopment of the optic nerve and pituitary gland dysfunction.

Risk of heart attack

Katie's comments followed her recent disclosure that Harvey is at risk of having a heart attack. On Andrew Gold's Heretics podcast, she said: “I’m not worried about his eyesight. What I’m worried about is him having a heart attack, his obesity. He weighs just under 30 stone.”

Discussing the Mounjaro treatment, she added: “It’s easy for me to just give it, but because of his other medications, you have to have all the team tick it off.”

“It’s getting to a point now, where he doesn’t want to walk anywhere, he gets out of breath and sweats and they have said he is at high risk of having a heart attack,” she said. “You try to [force him to walk] but he literally breaks into a sweat. I bathe him twice a day and it breaks my heart seeing him get in and out of the bath because he’s so big and heavy.”

Father Dwight Yorke still not in contact

Katie also spoke about Harvey's relationship with his biological father, Dwight Yorke, who she said remains out of contact despite ongoing attempts to connect them. Dwight initially denied paternity and demanded a test, which later proved he was Harvey's father.

“Dwight would have such a laugh with Harv because he’s so funny. My mum tries every year to contact his manager. Every year, it’s the same answer: not interested,” she said. “Yet he’s got another son who’s the same age as Princess and apparently does stuff with him, sees him all the time.”

“He’s seen [Harvey] about six times in his whole life. I wish he would get involved,” she added. “Everyone is like, ‘Kate, why would you allow that when he has not been there?’ Because I’m not that kind of person. I want him to be proud of Harvey and what he’s become and he so looks like Dwight as well. Harvey has done so well considering they said he would never walk or talk.”
