Julia Bradbury's Tragic Admission About Wasting Time After Cancer
Julia Bradbury: Time Is Not Unlimited After Cancer

Julia Bradbury has made a tragic admission about taking time for granted in a heartfelt update on her life after breast cancer. The former Countryfile presenter, 55, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and underwent a mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction, surgery to remove a 6cm tumour, and chemotherapy. Since then, she has shared regular health updates on social media.

Priorities Shift After Cancer Diagnosis

In her latest Instagram post, Bradbury explained how her priorities have completely changed after realising how precious – and limited – time is. She said in a voiceover: "Here's something nobody warns you about when you come through something serious. It ruins your tolerance for wasted time. I used to treat my days and weeks as if there would always be more of them."

She added: "Then I came out the other side of something tough, counting time and days differently. Now there are three things I guard fiercely."

Three Key Principles for Living

In the caption, the mum-of-three wrote: "I spent most of my life treating time like it was unlimited. It isn't. It took coming out the other side of a serious health issue to really feel that, not just know it. Nothing audits your weeks quite like being told they aren't guaranteed. And the odd thing is I've stopped spending hours I don't have on things I never cared about."

Bradbury revealed she now lives by three principles: spending at least 10 minutes outdoors each day, setting aside time to be completely alone without phones or distractions, and being "ruthless" about who she spends her time with – prioritising people who make her laugh.

Lifestyle Changes to Reduce Cancer Risk

Bradbury has remained candid about her health for years and adopted several lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of cancer returning. These include following a nutritious diet, cutting sweets out of her home, and starting her day with bone broth for breakfast.

She concluded: "None of it is dramatic. It's just deciding on purpose, instead of letting the week decide for you."
