A man hailed as the 'Hero of Huntingdon' was seen using a rag to mop blood from his own head after he was stabbed while saving a young girl from a knifeman on a high-speed train. The incident occurred on Saturday evening on a service from Doncaster to London King's Cross, which was stopped at Huntingdon station.
Footage shows passengers stumbling off the train holding blood-stained rags, with some confused victims unsure of their location. The hero, who used his head to block the attacker from stabbing a girl, was seen with a white rag pressed to his head, blood seeping through. An elderly passenger helped him as a bystander asked, 'Is he okay?'
British Transport Police declared a major incident. Two British nationals, aged 32 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder; one has since been released. Superintendent John Loveless confirmed that 11 people were treated in hospital, with four discharged. He stated there is no evidence of terrorism.
