Henderson Left in Mexico After England World Cup Win

Jordan Henderson has been left behind in a Mexican hospital as England flew back to the USA without the midfielder. The veteran midfielder suffered a serious arm injury following the Three Lions' dramatic World Cup victory over the hosts.

Injury During Celebrations

Henderson did not feature in England's 3-2 last-16 win over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium but was injured during the post-match celebrations after the final whistle. While the rest of the England squad returned to their training base in Kansas City shortly after the match, Henderson remained in Mexico for treatment.

The 36-year-old required medical attention after falling as he made his way back onto the pitch having celebrated with England supporters. Henderson had climbed over the advertising boards to join fans after the final whistle but slipped while returning, leaving him needing to be stretchered off wearing an oxygen mask. Despite not getting on the pitch during the match, Henderson was shown a yellow card during the closing stages.
