Grange Hospital Cwmbran tap water warning remains

People at the Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran have been told not to drink tap water at the site after an issue was identified with the water supply. The problem, first reported on Monday evening, remains ongoing.

Health board responds to water issue

A spokesperson for the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB), which manages the hospital, said its estates and facilities teams are "working tirelessly" to resolve the issue. A letter sent to staff on Tuesday said health board bosses were seeking advice from microbiology testing about whether the water was safe for drinking.

The letter added: "As a precaution, please do not drink the tap water until we have received the all-clear."

Filters fitted across the site

In a statement provided to WalesOnline on Wednesday afternoon, a spokesperson for the health board said work is ongoing to resolve the issue and stressed there is no risk to patients and staff. The majority of taps in patient and staff areas at the Grange have been fitted with filters allowing the water to be used safely.

"Following an issue with the water supply at the Grange University Hospital Monday night, our estates and facilities teams have been working tirelessly to resolve the issue," an Aneurin Bevan UHB spokesperson said. "Our water safety plans have been enacted and there is no risk to patients or staff with filtered water available across the site. We will continue to monitor the water supply."
