Graham's Family Dairy is recalling three sizes of its semi-skimmed milk from major UK supermarkets because veterinary medicines, including the antibiotic penicillin, were detected in the products. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a recall notice affecting England, warning that the milk may pose a health risk to anyone with an antibiotic allergy.
Recalled Products
The recall covers Graham's Family Dairy Semi-Skimmed Milk in one pint, one litre, and two litre bottles, all with a use-by date of July 31, 2026. The FSA stated: "The presence of veterinary medicines, including antibiotics in the product may make it unsafe to consume and may be a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to antibiotics (penicillin)."
Consumer Advice
The FSA advises: "If you have bought the above product, do not consume it. Instead, return it to where you bought it from for a full refund." Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in affected stores and on their websites.
Graham's Family Dairy issued its own statement: "This is a precautionary measure we have taken as there is a small risk a trace level of antibiotics may be present in the milk which could cause a reaction to consumers with an allergy to antibiotics. If you have purchased any of these products, please do not consume. Instead, please return the milk to the store purchased from for refund. We apologise for this issue and would like to reassure our customers no other Grahams Family Dairies products or Use By Dates are affected."
The dairy sells its milk at Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Asda, and Morrisons.
Separate Waitrose Recall
Separately, Waitrose has recalled eight packs of its Chocolate Chip Brioche Rolls (batch code B26177, best before July 26, 2026) due to possible hard plastic and metal pieces. The FSA said: "This product may contain pieces of hard plastic and metal, which makes the product unsafe to eat. If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest Waitrose and Partners branch for a full refund." A Waitrose spokesperson added: "We are really sorry for the inconvenience. Customers with impacted products are advised not to consume the product, and to return it to their nearest Waitrose shop or contact us for a full refund."
