Rebecca Morrison, 38, an ex model with rosacea-prone skin, says KALME's products have 'changed my life', reporting an 'almost 100% improvement' in her complexion after years of redness, flaking and pain. The brand's popular £14.99 Undercoat Daily Moisturiser is among its range designed to help redness and protect against irritation.
A decade of fragile confidence
Rebecca shared that in her twenties her 'confidence became very fragile' after she developed rosacea-prone skin. She explained: "As a young woman I did a lot of modelling and I was always told I have amazing skin. But a visit to my doctor over some eye problems when I was a teenager was my first warning sign of what was to come later."
"My doctor told me I had blepharitis and that it was a precursor to rosacea. At the time I didn't take much notice as I felt young, beautiful and invincible."
"However, my blepharitis got gradually worse and then my rosacea first emerged when I was 25. It was very hard - I wore loads of makeup but still felt like everyone was starring at my red bumpy skin. My confidence became very fragile because of the state of my skin."
Painful skin and failed treatments
Rebecca shared that her skin was also painful, continuing: "Not only did my skin look awful it also really hurt. It was itchy and painful and at times it was cracked and raw."
She says she tried plenty of things to help her skin: "I saw a lot of different doctors and was referred to a dermatologist. I was prescribed topical and oral antibiotics and even while taking them diligently my skin still flared regularly."
"My skin seemed to have a life of its own. I felt like me on the inside but looking in a mirror or at pictures, it was like looking at someone else. Inside I was beautiful, strong, and confident; on the outside, I was a red furious mess."
Support from her husband
After meeting Danny seven years ago, he helped her through her darkest days when her rosacea was at its worst. She said: "Despite his assurance about how much he loved me, I didn't ever feel pretty."
"I felt like all people saw was my rosacea, the redness, the bumps, the flaky skin. I wanted to be seen underneath all that and felt like I would never find someone who could see past it."
"I eventually did when I met Danny and he would hold me when I was crying about my skin and tell me how beautiful I was, but I still never really believed it."
Discovery during pregnancy
After falling pregnant, Rebecca discovered KALME's products, which she says 'truly changed my life.' She remembers: "I resigned myself to stopping all medications for my rosacea and decided to literally hide away from everyone while I was pregnant, as I knew my skin would flare instantly as soon as I stopped taking antibiotics, but when my skin flared up like it never had before I started desperately searching for anything new for rosacea that could be used during pregnancy."
"That was when I found Kalme products. A woman in a similar situation to me had used them to great benefit."
"I had been spending almost double the cost of the Kalme products on medicated products and tablets so I felt I had nothing to lose in trying them. I saw the best results in my skin after twelve weeks of using the Kalme products."
"But even after just four weeks my skin stopped flaking and hurting. I've now been using Kalme for a year and have been more or less free from all the symptoms for the majority of that time."
Daily routine and results
Rebecca says she maintains her routine diligently: "No matter how tired I am with a baby at home, I take a few minutes before bed every night and right away every morning to do my Kalme routine, I know that if I miss a day I'll see bumps appearing the next day. That's how I know it works, because when I don't use it - my rosacea creeps back up."
She added: "Since using the Kalme products daily I've seen almost 100% improvement in my skin. I still get a few pimples now and then when I'm especially stressed and get a little flush if I'm out in the sun but zero flaking skin, zero painful irritation, zero furious redness!"
"Kalme has worked better than anything I've tried, even antibiotics. It has truly changed my life!"
Shopper reviews and alternatives
Rebecca isn't the only fan of KALME either, as the brand's Undercoat has received praise from Amazon shoppers. One said: "After a bout of shingles on my head and face I was left with very sensitive skin with scarring and redness."
"As the name suggests Kalme has been really beneficial and calmed things down so much I can now wear makeup again. I've had no breakouts since starting it and will continue to wear both the day and night time moisturisers."
It is worth noting that one user was less impressed with their individual results, writing: "Gentle. I shall have to try this again, not sure it worked for me."
Despite this, someone else raved in part of a lengthy review: "What an amazing product Kalme Undercoat is for my rosacea prone skin. It helps desensitise my skin, I cannot recommend enough what a great cream it is for a light moisturising effect that calms and prepares my skin for my next steps in my daily routine."
KALME also sells a Day Defence SPF 30 Anti-Redness Day Cream for Sensitive Skin 50ml and a Night Repair Cream 50ml for £26.65 each at Amazon, plus a cream cleanser that costs £19.95 and has a no rinse formula. Elsewhere on the high street, Holland & Barrett sells the Grahams Natural Rosacea Cream 75g priced at £19.99, while at Rosalique, the 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula SPF50 is £32.99.
